The first step was to plot each law on a timeline. In this view we can see the beginnings of a prototype created using D3, in which each black circle represents a law. Each of these laws then has a series of metadata which are accessible through clicking the circles.
This further exploration of the concept shows the addition of colour to distinguish between the countries featured, and the inclusion of additional information in the timeline. Here we can see the Arab Spring mapped to 2011, which could perhaps explain why so many new laws were passed during this time period. The inclusion of Olfa Riahi's story also adds a human element to the project, highlighting the real consequences of the implementation of these severe laws.
